The Communal Bank “Paz y Bien” (Peace and Good) is in its third loan cycle and continues to work with EDAPROSPO. Everyone in the group has demonstrated responsibility with their payments.

Some time ago with the help of the loans from EDAPROSPO, Guadalupe was able to open a grocery store that is still in operation today. This business enables her to support her four children. However, she says this is still not enough.

Natali sells clothing on credit. Her earnings are used to pay for her household expenses. Her greatest wish is to acquire a vending post at a shopping center where she can easily sell more products.

Elizabeth has different businesses. She sells clothing by order in the afternoons and helps her mother-in-law in the mornings sell fish. These activities allow her to cover her household expenses.

The members are grateful for their loans.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
