Our partner Sara works selling clothing door-to-door. She is a single mom who has to support her three children. She began selling products at the market, but she did not earn much of an income. So she decided to sell clothing. She walks long stretches and sells her products to people her friends introduce her to. The work is hard, but she feels satisfied with her job because she can earn more money and support her family.

Lizbeth has a business selling food at night. She makes sausage with chicken, hamburgers, sausage with potatoes, and other dishes. However, this job is not sufficient. She is applying for a loan in order to start another business that will help her increase her income, so that she can care for her four children.

Isabel sells paintings and pictures, but this is insufficient so she also washes clothes, cleans different houses, and takes on any job available in order to get by. She is single.

ALCOM "The Progress of Friendship" is very thankful for the loan and they are committed to making their payments on time.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
