Ramona is an individual loan client, and her story is representative of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients generally. She lives in a rural, agricultural area near El Seibo where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-term partner and their three children.
Ramona is excited to be taking her third loan from Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business running a "colmado" or small general store by purchasing rice, sugar, coffee, sauces, fish and pasta to stock the store. She will use the profits to invest in her home and to save to replace the roof. She thanks you all for your support.
