Mwanaidi is a 30 year old married woman with two daughters, who are 9 years old and 9 months old. Her older daughter is attending fourth grade in school. She has been running her poultry business raising broilers (which are chicken for consumption) for five years already and owns 200 chicken currently. With the 70,000 KSH loan she hopes to repair her poultry farm which was damaged recently by termites, and buy more chicken. Her customers are mainly hotels and restaurants. She hopes to start another business someday, perhaps in cosmetics. Mwanaidi describes herself as a hardworking woman and hopes to provide her children with a good life.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
