Tess is married and has five school-aged children. To make a living, Tess owns & operates a business hauling junk & other waste material for local businesses and community members. Tess has been engaged in her business for over five years and earns approximately 4,500 PHP a month for these activities.
In 2004, Tess joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Tess has successfully repaid a previous loan of 18,000 PHP from ASKI. This previous loan was used to purchase used bottles and newspapers to sell. Tess is requesting a new loan of 18,000 PHP, which will be used to purchase used bottles and newspapers to sell. This loan will be the 13th loan taken out by Tess from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.

This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
