Marie K G. was born in 1973 in Djigbé, in the Ouémé region of Bénin. Marie has lived for twelve years in Hozin, not far from Porto-Novo, the administrative capital of Bénin. Married to Paul Zounmenou, a chauffeur, Marie is the mother of five children, some of whom went to school. Only two of the children still live under their parents' care. The family lives together and the couple provides for the family's different needs.
Marie never attended school. Almost eight years ago, Marie began preparing and selling the local alcoholic beverage (commonly called "Sodabi") from her home. Marie stocks up on palm wine and sugar in Cotonou, in preparation for making the drink. Marie has already benefited from two loans from ALIDé, loans which she repaid in full. Marie is asking for a third loan to strengthen her business by making more drinks and thus seeing a higher profit.

G. K. Marie est née en 1973 à Djigbé, dans le département de l'Ouémé au Bénin. Marie vit depuis une dizaine d'année à Hozin, non loin de Porto-Novo, capitale administrative du Bénin. Mariée à ZOUNMENOU Paul, un chauffeur, Marie est mère de cinq enfants, dont certains sont scolarisés. Seulement deux des enfants restent encore à la charge du couple. La famille vit ensemble et le couple assure les différentes charges familiales. Marie n'a jamais fréquenté l'école. Il y a près de 8 ans que Marie prépare et vend de l'alcool local (communément appelé "Sodabi") à son domicile. Marie s'approvisionne en vin de palme et en sucre à Cotonou, en vue de la préparation de la boisson. Marie a déjà bénéficié de deux crédits auprès de ALIDé, crédits qu'elle a bien remboursés. Marie sollicite un troisième prêt pour renforcer son activité et préparer plus de boissons, afin de se faire plus de profits.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late.
