Mrs. Emerlinda R. is from Upper Sto Nino, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur. She is 46 years old and married with two children. She operates her pig raising business in order to have an income. Her husband is a farmer who supports their basic daily needs. She has managed her business for more than two years, earning approximately $140 a month.
Emerlinda joined PMPC to gain access to financial support for engaging in business activities. She successfully repaid her previous loan from PMPC of 13,000 PHP. Now she has a new loan of 14,900 PHP from PMPC which is being used to expand her business and to have additional capital. This is her 5th loan from PMPC.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
