N. Zalia , shown in the small photo at the top left, also appears in the group photo. She is the leader of her group in Lugazi.

Zalia is a married mother of five kids who all go to school. She is a seamstress by profession and she operates in Nkonkonjeru trading center, Lugazi.

Zalia has been plying her trade for the last fifteen years and says her main strong point in her business operations has been her high quality service delivery which she has offered her clientele. This however has not always come easy as she has had to come to terms with the fact that her competitors are also increasing in number.

Zalia needs this loan to be able to transform her small tailor shop into a fully equipped wholesale shop where she can sew and sell her clothes. She also sells clothing materials.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
