Carmelo

Carmelo is 50 years old, married and has 3 children. He owns a small grocery store, which he first opened 20 years ago. His store is well known in the neighborhood due to the fact that he has been able to keep it well stocked with loans received through the Paraguayan Foundation.

He has plans to expand the store this summer, as he isn't currently able to display all his stock because of limited space. Don Carmelo tells us he's a fighter and that this line of work requires much sacrifice, as he must work everyday, including weekends, starting at 5 am and going well into the evening. In spite of this, he feels very fortunate to have his own business, to be able to support his family and to provide his children with a good education.

His principal customers are the area office workers as well as factory workers from a nearby ceramics factory. Besides running the grocery store, he also serves breakfast and lunch. He is requesting this loan to purchase meats, sugar, milk, flour, beer, wine, etc.
