Mohamad is a 22 year old single man living with his parents and 7 brothers and sisters. Starting 7 years ago, when he was young, he started going with his father and learning the fishing business. He became a talented fisherman and in 2004 he started working on his own. He sells the fish in a large fish market very well known in the whole region. Mohamad is thankful for his work as it allows him to assist with his family's income.
Today, Mohamad is requesting to borrow $1,000 to purchase fishing supplies such as fishing nets and other items before the summer season, which is considered the high season for the fishers where he could make a good income for the whole year.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
