Mrs. Vuth M. is 39 years of age and lives along the river in Siem Reap. Vuth M. and her husband are currently local fishermen. They depend on catching fish in and around Tunle Sap Lake. That is the main place where the fish shelter. They have been fishing for a long time and earn at least $5 per day. This income is used to cover the family's living expenses and especially to make sure the five children get the highest education. Vuth M. is applying for a loan in order to buy more traps and nets for fishing.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
