Mr. T. was born in 1965 and is a resident of Siem Reap province. He has a skill of making wooden furniture by hand, from which he earns a living. He is married but divorced his wife when his children were small. T. has eight children. Half of his children are married and the rest are single. He has a daughter who helps contribute to the family by selling a few groceries. T. needs a loan for his daughter to use as capital for her grocery sale enterprise.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
