Maria Marlene
María Marlene P. Z. is 36 years old, and as a 1 year old daughter. She grows tubers (potatoes, oca, ulluco) and legumes (broad beans, peas). María has been doing this for over 6 years and her products are sold in the cold of Colomi. The agricultural inputs that she uses are: organic fertiliser (from chickens), certified seeds that are acquired in the agricultural shops in Colomi, plus preparing the land for sowing time.

María Marlene lives in the community of Liriuni, 1 kilometre from Colomi to the north of the village. She lives in her father's house. He doesn't have sight, as he lost it 20 years ago. María Marlene works to look after her father and daughter. She is a very hard-working and contracts casual labour for sowing and harvesting.

It is difficult for them to go to banks in the city in search of a loan. CIDRE is in the Colomi zone and so it is easier for them to get a loan from CIDRE to puchase the agricultural inputs that they need for sowing the next season of crops. In this way they will increase their production of potatoes. María Marlene tells us that she is going to marry her daughter's father. Her biggest dream is that she has her own house with good comforts, and savings so that her daughter can study.
