Rolando is the president. He buys and sells furniture in different areas of La Paz and El Alto. He has a large family. With the loan he will be able to purchase furniture on sale. He hopes to use this business to save for his children’s education.

Evelin is a new member and she is secretary of the group. She is the head of her household, as she is separated. With this loan she is able to travel to Desaguadero to purchase tennis shoes in bulk and at a lower price. With her income she plans to increase her working capital.

Lizet has a family of four. She works in a factory making clothes, but since she has small children, she is planning to resign and use the loan to set up a store in her home. That way she can be closer to her family and generate income.

All of the members are responsible, dynamic, and hardworking. They have to work hard to get their families ahead and thus be able to improve their families' quality of life. They are thankful to Emprender and Kiva for the trust placed in them with this loan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
