Nelly O., 55, lives in an urban area in the outskirts of the city of Guayaquil. Her house is made of cement and has all of the basic services. She is a widow and has 4 children aged 39, 30, 34 and 24.

Since her family lacked income after the death of her husband, she decided to sell notebooks in the area surrounding her house during the school year. Once she had some money she decided it would be better to invest her savings in a small beauty salon.

Now she has one of the largest beauty salons in the neighborhood. She works from 7am until 10pm every day. She does haircuts, hair coloring, hair straightening, etc. In addition, she stocks her salon with drinks and snacks.

With this loan she wants to buy hair dyes, snacks and drinks for her business. In the future she hopes to specialize by taking stylist classes and eventually teaching stylist classes.
