Khadija is a 19 year old single woman living with her parents and 6 brothers and sisters. In 2007, she started a tailoring business from her home. She makes all types of tailored dresses, robes, pants, etc., upon request by her customers, in addition to also offering repair services. With her business income she helps her father with the family's expenses.
Today, Khadija is requesting a $1,000 loan to buy an additional sewing machine and thread to be able to satisfy her customers' demands and increase her business productivity. And, with the new sewing machine, she will be able to deliver her services faster.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
