Nadira is a widow, 53 years old, who is living with her three children. She runs a tailoring business from her home and works hard to be able to raise her children. Her oldest daughter helps her with the family income.
Today, Nadira is requesting $1,000 to expand her business by purchasing a new sewing machine. She says that she will be able to increase her productivity and income as a result of the loan. She specifically notes that she has been able to deliver her services faster and make more products because of the new machine.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
