La Flor Del Jicaral (Flat) Group
In this Group: Cornelia, Carmela, Cristina, Felipa, Gladis Maria, Andres, Mary Carmen
This group is called LA FLOR DEL JICARAL, because that is the name of the place where they live. There are seven members in the group: Cornelia Ramírez C., Carmela Ramírez, Cristina Solís Pérez, Felipa Hernández C., Gladis María López V., Andrés Ramírez Gómez and Mary Carmen Gómez López. All of them live in the state of Veracruz, and they work raising sheep and pigs, doing household labor or working on farms.

Cristina is married and has two children. She works raising sheep, as well as pigs in some seasons. Her husband likes having livestock, since he says it is a form of savings. Cristina is sure that this activity will give her sufficient income to buy a heifer and also begin raising cattle in the future.

With this loan, she would like to buy some sheep. Her goal for the future is to give her children a better life, especially the younger one, who is now only six years old. With her earnings, she hopes to improve her quality of life and someday send her son to the university.

Cristina says that she feels very comfortable with the group LA FLOR DEL JICARAL, because she is well acquainted with her fellow members and knows that she can trust them.

Cristina thinks that it is very good that loan programs such as Kiva exist to help support the activities that allow them to provide for their families.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
