Mrs. Ny Koem Village Bank Group
In this Group: Ny, Samnang, Ny, Phall, Houy, Than, Ravuth, Yon, Sokhom
This village bank loan has nine people who live in Tep Archun village in Kandal province. Mrs. Ny K. is a village bank president who has been selected by all the members. They will each use a loan for a different purpose. She and her husband, Mr. Chork Phorn, are farmers who own a small piece of land to grow crops to sell, supporting their family living. They have some problems because their field is infertile soil and it is far from any irrigation system. Thus, in order to improve crops and make them more productive, Mrs. Ny K. decided to ask for a loan to buy fertilizer and fuel, and the rest of the loan she would like to use to hire a farm laborer. She is the mother of six children, two of whom are employed in a garment factory, another is too small to go to school or work, and the others are enrolled in the local public school.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
