Mrs. Oeut N., age 29, raises many pigs in a stall next to her house, and earns she earns a living from this work. She breeds and sells her pigs at least twice a year and has been in this business for more than three years.
Oeut N. is married and two young children who are enrolled in primary school. Her husband, who appears in the picture, helps to support the family by selling fish in the market. For many years, Oeut N.'s husband has been spending a lot of money on taxis to transport his fish, because he doesn’t own a vehicle. Therefore, Oeut N. is seeking a loan to be used to buy a motorcycle for her husband's fish business.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
