Mrs. Sar L. has been selling fresh fish in the busy local market for more than nine years. She buys the fish from her wholesale supplier and other fishermen. She was married, but divorced her husband. She has three children, two of whom are already married. One of her sons is an employee in a garment factory.
Sar L. always finds it hard traveling anywhere because she doesn’t have a vehicle. To help with transportation, Sar L. requested a loan, which she will use with her savings, to buy a new motorcycle.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
