Together with her in the picture is her customer. Her husband is an employee of the Local Government of Tangub City. She is blessed with four children who are all adults and teenagers. With this condition, she felt financial hardships, especially in raising their children and in sending them to school. She decided to engage in manicure and pedicure services and a little hog raising activity. This time she is earning an average net income of not less than 3,000PHP from her services rendered to her loyal customers and friends. She joined PAGLAUM MPC three years ago. She was given the privilege of taking a loan of 14,900 PHP. Her recent loan in the same amount will be used to finance feed for her hog raising activity and for purchasing additional pedicure and manicure sets for her business activity. The future income from this business will be used for daily basic needs, savings and loan repayments. She is hoping that someday she can build another building for her hog raising business.

About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
