Irene N. I. is forty two years old, married and has three children aged between twenty years and fifteen years. Her business is located at Mukiriti, a busy market in Thika. Thika is the region in Kenya known for production of pineapples.
Irene has been selling fruits such as oranges, pineapples, mangoes, plums, pawpaws and bananas for the last ten years to the local people. She says that this business is profitable and the major challenge she has is lack of enough funds. She also gets harassment from the local government. However she works very hard to keep her business doing well.
Irene is using her loan of Kes 20,000 to buy more fruit to expand her business. She hopes to supply her fruit to different parts of the country in future and wants to be a successful wholesaler.
Irene hopes and dreams of buying a plot for her family. She is God-fearing and friendly.
