Lim S. is 32 years of age and a resident of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. She is a widow and a mother caring for a young child. Her child is three years old and enrolled in the primary school. Her mother appears in the picture. Her mother assists her in cooking and caring for her child.
To earn a living, Lim S. owns and operates a salon where she provides hairdressing and make-up to people who are going to parties in the village. Lim S. needs a loan that she will use, along with her savings, to buy a used motorcycle for commuting.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
