Mr. Sok S. was born in 1965. He has been married for many years to Sokhim, 32, who raises a few pigs from home for a profit. They have 3 children who are living at home and they are cared for by their parents. To earn a living, Sok S. buys animals from rural people and fattens them for a while before selling them for a profit. Sok S. wants to make his ox trade more successful and increase his income. He is applying for assistance which will allow him to order additional animals to resell.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
