Asma' M. is an ambitious young woman from Rafah, a city in the Gaza Strip, who started her own project at her house. In the photo she is standing in her workshop in front of her sewing machines.
Asma' purchases cloth for sewing long robes which Hijabi Muslim women wear. This type of robe sells well in Gaza Strip.
Asma' started this project recently to help her husband who works for the local authority in Rafah and receives a small salary. Their combined income would provide the family, which consists of a one son and one daughter, with all that they need.
The project is succeeding due to the high demand for such robes. Therefore, Asma' has requested $1,500 to purchase the needed amount of cloth.
Please note that Asma comes from a religious family, therefore she covers her face in the picture shown here.
