Paz Melly Mellendez is a 50-year-old married woman who lives in Brgy Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. She earns her living by being a candy manufacturer.

Paz’s husband, Florentino, works as a farmer but sometimes helps out in his wife's business. They have four adult children aged between 20 and 30 with one currently going to school and they also help out in the business as part of their daily chores.

Paz joined NWTF-Project Dungganon in 2001 in the hope that she would be able to help her husband improve their family's quality of life. With the help of her loans from NWTF-PD, she has been able to increase their family income by engaging in candy manufacturing. Now she earns an average monthly income of Php 32,000 from her business activities.

Paz is a member of good standing. Her previous loan of Php 29,500 was used to fund the operations of her candy manufacturing and had a positive impact on both the business and the family’s living conditions. Borrowing the amount of PHP 29,500 for her 17th loan, she intends to use the money on her candy manufacturing. Paz is working hard to achieve her dreams and aspirations for her family, which is to provide them with a brighter future and a more comfortable life. Paz is with her husband in the picture.
