Mariam is a 49 year-old widow and mother of 3 children. With the help of her first loan, she managed to purchase accessories and cosmetic products to expand her business. She's very thankful for the loan because it allowed her to increase her income and in 2009 she was able to open a clothing shop in her town.
Today, Mariam is requesting to borrow $600 to expand her inventory and offer a bigger choice of clothes and collections to her clients.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
