Elsa D. is from the village of Digkilaan in Iligan City. She is 39 years old. Elsa is married and has 4 school-aged children. To make a living, Elsa owns and operates a sari-sari (variety) store where she sells a variety of food and daily-use products in the local community. Elsa has been engaged in her business for over 12 years and earns approximately 3,500 PHP a month from these activities.
In 2010, Elsa joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Elsa is requesting a loan of 5000 PHP to purchase more products to sell. This will be Elsa's first loan from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand the borrower's business.
HSPFI is one of accredited partners of Opportunity International in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City and is reaching out to the poor households of Northern Mindanao.
