Mrs. C., age 33, resides in the best territory of Kampong Chhnang Province. Here she built a small grocery store in the village where she sells a few cooking ingredients to the neighbors for a profit. She is able to earn a daily income of $4 a day to contribute the daily needs of her family. She has a good partner in her husband who helps feed the family by working in construction. C. has a young child who attends a primary school. C. is taking her loan to raise capital for her grocery business. With the rest of the loan, she will buy some children's toys to sell.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
