Chit C. is a low-income person who earns a living by selling fruit in Battembang Province. She is married and does not have any children. Her husband supports the family by selling fish.
Chit C. wants to buy a piece of her neighbor’s land, which is in good location for farming. She has been trying to save money to buy the land, but her savings is not enough. Therefore, she would like a loan that will allow her to buy the land. She will earn additional income by renting her new land to crop growers.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
