Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Laura Lissette's story

Laura Lissette S. C. is 30 years old and a resident of Ilopango, Department of San Salvador. She lives at home with her mother, her husband, and her 9 year old daughter who is a student. Laura operates a cafeteria at a school in the town of San Bartolo in the Department of San Salvador. She wants to restock her business because January is when classes begin. For this reason, she is requesting a loan in order to buy sweets, bread, beverages, cookies, fruit, and other products that children buy. She also wants to purchase rice, vegetables, and other ingredients for preparing lunches to sell to the school teachers. Laura hopes to grow her business and increase her sales, which will benefit her and her family.
