Ananías Gerardo
Anonías is a 54-year-old man. He lives in a rural community in Costa Rica located 45 kilometers from San José. It is called San Cristobal Norte. San Cristobel is a mountainous area where the principal activities are commerce, vegetable and coffee farming as well as making folk-art, ranching and many other activities. Mr. Ananías lives with his wife and his daughter.
Mr Ananías works with milk and cheese production in order to generate an income for his family. He is very content because, thanks to this community-banking project, he has been able to move forward. His products are well liked by his neighbors in his community. This is why he would like to increase his production.
Mr Ananías would like to receive a micro loan of 656,000 colons in order to buy two more milk cows. If he owns more cows he will increase his milk production He desires to be a successful small business owner. In this way he can help his family be successful. His family responsibilities motivate him to work with care.
Mr. Ananías is a member of the San Cristóbal Norte Community Credit Business (SACRIN). It is one of the 100 members of EDESA in Costa Rica. This is his third loan. With this loan he hopes to continue growing personally and economically. He also knows that thanks to this type of organization that facilitates obtaining credit, he is able to dedicate more time to productive activities.

Ananías Gerardo C. Núñez es un señor de 54 años de edad, vecino de una comunidad rural de Costa Rica situada 45 kilómetros al sur de San José llamada San Cristóbal Norte. San Cristóbal es una zona un poco montañosa donde se desarrollan actividades como el comercio, agricultura de hortalizas, café y otros, artesanía, ganadería y muchas otras actividades. Don Ananías vive con su esposa y su hija.

Don Ananías se dedica a la producción de leche y queso como una forma de generar ingresos para su familia. Dice estar muy contento porque gracias a este proyecto ha podido salir adelante. Comenta que sus productos son muy gustados por los vecinos de su comunidad por lo que desea incrementar la producción.

Don Ananías desea obtener un micro crédito por un monto de ¢656.000 (seiscientos cincuenta y seis mil colones) para comprar dos vaca lecheras más y así aumentar la producción de leche ya que desea ser un microempresario exitoso y así poder ayudar a que su familia siga adelante esto es una de las cosas que lo motiva a esforzarse y trabajar con mucho esmero.

Don Ananías es socio de la Empresa de Crédito Comunal San Cristóbal Norte (SACRIN),, una de las 100 organizaciones socias de EDESA en Costa Rica. Este será su tercer préstamo y con él espera continuar creciendo a nivel personal y económico. También destaca que gracias a este tipo de organizaciones y medios facilitadores de crédito puede dedicar más tiempo a las actividades productivas.

As a small and relatively young MFI located in Costa Rica, EDESA has difficulty attracting other sources of capital. Many other microfinance funders do not work in Costa Rica, because overall the country is too rich. However, organizations such as EDESA work with extremely marginalized populations in Costa Rica that really need the access to capital that EDESA provides. By funding EDESA, Kiva lenders are allowing the organization to grow and reach more people than they otherwise would be able to reach.
