Heng C. is a fish seller who has been experienced in this sector for years. She is 49 years old and is a married mother, caring for two kids who are working in the garment industry. Another one of her children is married and lives away from home. Her husband is a construction foreman. Heng C. has a single son who wants to have a wife and needs to have a wedding party, but Heng C. doesn’t have money yet to have a party. Therefore, she has requested a loan of $700 in order to perform a party, if possible.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
