Mehman B. is a 43-year-old café owner. He opened his café in 2001 offering tea but, little by little, he expanded his tea house to a café and now offers meat and chicken meals among with tea. His son helps him.
Now, Mehman needs 1,600 AZN to purchase new tables, chairs and dishes.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
