Ligia Del Socorro
Ms. L. is a single mother with 2 children; the eldest works as an X-ray technician and has his own family, while the youngest is a college student. Ligia has been working as a nurse at the Hospital Asuncion de Juigalpa for 12 years, providing care to those who need it. She is currently living with her mother because despite the fact that she has her own house, she has not been able to occupy it since it still needs to have some work done. She has been able to equip it little by little thanks to the loans that she has received from AFODENIC. She is now requesting a 9th loan with the aim of finishing work on her porch since she is already halfway done. She would like to put up wrought-iron bars around it and purchase a wrought-iron door in order to make her home safer. Because she works different shifts and the house is unoccupied, she wants to prevent any problems from arising. Ms. L. is noted for being very hardworking and very responsible with her obligations.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
