C. is 35 years old and resides in the province of Kampong Chhnang where she built a medium pigpen next to her house. In her stall, she feeds many pigs either to produce babies or to sell to the slaughterer. Her husband is a civil servant officer for an industry. C. has a child who is a student and lives with her in the family home. C. will be using her first loan to purchase a motorcycle to use as transportation. She intends to use the remaining money from the loan to add to her capital for her pig breeding enterprise. C. was not available for a photo so her husband is shown instead.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
