Soumaya has owned a pastry shop in her town since 2002. A mother of three, she opened this business to help her husband with the family's income and to pay for their children's schooling. Over the years, she has been able to have a growing number of clients pass by her shop and buy all types of sweet products. Today, Soumaya is requesting to borrow $1,000 to buy more sweet merchandise to increase her sales.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
