A loan of $500 helped purchase drinks and basic ingredients for making pupusas.

María Elsy's story

Maria Elsy Q. Martinez is 49 years old and lives in the San Jorge municipality, in the department of San Miguel. She lives with her husband, who works with livestock. Maria owns a business that sells pupusas, hot chocolate, coffee and sodas. It is located in front of the San Jorge mayor’s office. This location has a great deal of foot traffic, mainly from employees on their way to work. In spite of all this, Maria’s work is very hard because not only must she make the pupusas, but day in and day out she must transport to her place of work the stove, tables, chairs, and the ingredients for pupusas. Maria is a woman who is always cheerful because she recognizes that her business is a blessing from God that allows her to give her husband the necessary help. She requests a loan through which she will be able to buy the basic ingredients for making pupusas, with the goal of having everything necessary to sell more of her product.
