A newly recognized member of the PDP-LP, a microfinance program of PMPC is Mrs. Rhiza P.. She is 35 years of age, married and a resident of Sta. Cruz, Tangub City. Her husband is a farmer and a laborer. At this time the couple still do not have any child. As a micro-entrepreneur, she is engaged in selling “dayok”, a salted fish appetizer. She earns an average net income of 2,000 PHP.
She joined PAGLAUM MPC just this year as she is very much interested with the Coop's products and services. As a newly recognized member, she has requested a loan amount of 3,000 PHP to add the working capital of her existing business. She hopes that someday they will have a child to complete their family.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
