A loan of $350 helped purchase of fertilizer, seeds, and land.

Domitila's story

Domitila is 53 years old and lives with her 56-year-old husband A., with whom she has 8 children. Only two of her children live with them, Ada, age 16, and Fredyy, 14. Their older siblings have their own families. They own their charming home which is located in a faraway spot in the mountains of Perú.

For 30 years she has done the difficult work of growing a variety of potatoes, as well as peas, carrots, and flowers. She also raises sheep and pigs. She does these activities with her husband, both of them planting the crops and taking care of the animals for later sale. Their earnings have allowed them to get ahead financially, and they have acquired some land. Their business plan includes planting in greater quantities, purchasing more productive land, and raising more animals.

This is her seventh loan from Microfinanzas Prisma, and she is committed to repaying it punctually, as her communal bank is known for being very demanding and responsible. She will use the loan to buy bags of fertilizer, a few stretches of land, and a variety of flower seeds, as she wants to continue to get ahead.
