H. Akouavi Bernadette Z. was born in 1953 in Allada, Benin's Atlantic community. Akouavi Bernadette has been living in the Dodomey area of Allada for the past 15 years. She is married to Paul AGUENON, and mother of two. Akouavi Bernadette has another child under her care, in addition to her own children. Only some of her children are educated. The couple share household expenses. Akouavi Bernadette has not attended school.
To assist her husband with the household expenses, Akouavi Bernadette sells firewood from her home. As a secondary business, she also sells "sodabi" (a local alcoholic beverage). Akouavi Bernadette has been performing these activities for the past 30 years. She gets her supplies from the villages of Allada.
Akouavi Bernadette has already been granted two loans by ALIDé, which she has fully reimbursed. With the view of increasing her activity and putting money aside for her children's education, she is requesting a third loan from ALIDé. In the future, Akouavi Bernadette considers building her own home.

Le couple assure ensemble les charges de la famille. Akouavi Bernadette n'a pas fréquenté l'école. Pour venir en aide à son mari dans les charges de la famille, Akouavi Bernadette vend des bois de chauffage à son domicile. Akouavi Bernadette mène comme activité secondaire, la vente de "sodabi" (boisson alcoolisée locale). Akouavi Bernadette exerce cette activité depuis trente ans. C'est dans les villages de Allada que Akouavi Bernadette s'approvisionne. Akouavi Bernadette a bénéficié déjà de deux crédits auprès de ALIDé, et les a bien remboursés. Dans l'optique d'agrandir son activité et se faire une épargne qui servira à l'éducation de ses enfants, Akouavi Bernadette sollicite un troisième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Akouavi Bernadette envisage plus tard construire sa propre maison.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
