Vidal lives in the La Mascota area with his wife Angelica and his 12-year-old son Vidal, who is in his first year of high school. For the last seven years, he has been a construction worker in the city of Juigalpa.

He is requesting his second loan and hopes to receive assistance from Kiva to build a room in his house for his son Vidal, since the house currently has only one, which the family shares. With another room, everyone in the family will have more privacy. They are a family of very modest means, but are very hardworking. Angelica does not have a job, so she takes care of her husband and son.

Vidal's greatest dream is to be able to make improvements to his home and to provide his family with a comfortable and pleasant living environment. He would also like his son to continue his studies and become a good man.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
