Phan N., 60, is a widow who lives with her two children in Takeo Province, Cambodia. She has been growing rice and raising livestock since 1979 and is able to earn a gross income of US $0.50 per day. One of her children who works at a local garment factory earns an income of US $4 per day. This money helps cover the family expenses. N. and her children try to work hard every day to ensure a good standard of living for the family. And they are seeking to improve their businesses. As a result, she is requesting a loan of US $800 from CREDIT, Kiva’s partner. She wants to use the loan to purchase a motorbike for her children to commute to work. By doing so, she will able to cut back on public transportation expense and save up more money for the future. This is her first loan from CREDIT.
