Valida A. is 40 years old. She’s married and has three children. The difficult circumstances and hardships in her life made her recognize the value of work from a very young age. For about 14 years, she has been purchasing young cattle and calves at the local market, and then raising and selling them.
Valida is a very hard-working woman. Her diligence is incredible. Valida wakes up early every morning to feed her cows and bulls so she can fatten them and sell them at the best price in the local market. Her husband actively helps her with operations. Thanks to this activity, she can pay for her children's education. Valida wants to keep educating them because she hopes that they’ll reach the goals that they have set for themselves.
She is requesting a loan of 1600 AZN to buy four calves to expand her business. Let’s support this brave woman who has a lot of courage and strength to live.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded in 2001 by a group of 32 farmers from Imishli. It has since grown to become the largest credit union in Azerbaijan, owned by its more than 5,400 borrowers and boasting a portfolio of nearly US$12 million.
AqroInvest is focused on providing loans to the following groups of people: rural farmers, people living in distant southern villages with little or no access to finance and internally displaced people and refugees, many of whom lost their homes and livelihoods during the violent conflicts in the 1990s.
In May 2011, Aqroinvest started a new project with Kiva proving higher education loans to students. The project gives students the support and financing they need to continue their education and helps pay for tuition fees at various universities in Azerbaijan. Aqroinvest is the first credit union in the country to offer students loans.
