Nhem P., 64, is married and lives with her five children and husband in Phnom Penh City, Cambodia. She is a housewife, who stays at home and looks after her children and family. To make a living, her husband is employed in a local private company, earning an income of US $3 per day to help cover their family expenses. P. and her family members are seeking to improve their standards of living and generate a better income. Therefore, P. is asking for a loan of US $1200 to purchase a motorbike for one of her children, to commute to work. She thinks that this expected loan to buy a motorbike will enable her family to cut back on their public transportation expenses. This is her first loan from CREDIT MFI, Kiva’s partner.
