Cruz
Cruz Hernández, 48, lives in Santiago Sacatepequez; she has 7 children. She is an enterprising woman who is a farmer. She began growing spinach but later on began to make plans to plant peas. This was a great help to her and her crops increased. Currently she has a "manzana" (1.7 acres) of land on which she grows peas. She needs financing to buy the items needed to successfully bring her crops to harvest: natural fertilizer, herbicides, bambu stalks, pita (a kind of rope or cord made from agave). This kind of investment helps her because she turns over her crops to an agricultural cooperative called "cuatro pinos." She hopes to get ahead with her plans and to continue to improve her own and her family's quality of life.
