Ever since their marriage, Almaz E. and her husband have made a living buying and selling sheep. They do their work with lots of care because they enjoy it and because it allows them to meet their expenses and provide an education for their son. This hard-working mother buys her sheep in nearby towns, then feeds and raises them until they are large enough to sell. Her dream is to give her four beloved children security and an education. Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
