The picture above shows Mr. Rit P., who is a man on low income living in Phnom Penh City. He owns a big area of farmland next to his house, on which he and his wife grow a variety of vegetable crops. Rit P. always plants his crops twice a year and can collect his mature crops three times per year.

For this coming harvesting rice season, rice is commanding the lowest price. Rit P. thinks that it is the time when he could earn additional income, so he is requesting a loan for capital so he can order rice in bulk to store in his home. He will sell it to gain income when the rice commands a high price.
