Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC), located in northwestern Mindanao, provides savings, credit, and other valuable services to the region’s enterprising poor. Founded in 1992, PMPC has grown to serve 40,000 members from its 14 branches and satellite offices. In 2010, the first branch was opened outside of the Mindanao region, where PMPC primarily operates. Among other awards in 2010, PMPC received recognition as an Outstanding Microfinance Cooperative from the Land Bank of the Philippines and received the Credit Union Microfinance Innovation Performance Award from the ACCU, an association of Asian credit unions.
